Elena is a Professor of Health Economics and Evaluation within the Imperial College School of Public Health (ICTU) and the Department of Economics and Public Policy at the Business School.

She is a health economist specialising in economic evaluation alongside clinical trials, health technology assessment (HTA) and decision modelling in healthcare.

Her research focuses on the assessment of healthcare technologies, complex interventions and health system innovation across cancer, stroke, mental health,  digital health and public health.       She has extensive experience leading economic evaluations embedded within multicentre randomised controlled trials and complex NHS service interventions, with research informing NICE guidance, NHS commissioning and wider policy initiatives.

She provides strategic leadership through multidisciplinary collaborations spanning public health, digital innovation and health system transformation. She works closely with clinicians, policymakers, NHS organisations and academic partners across Europe, North America, the Middle East and Asia, with a particular interest in translating economic evidence into policy and practice.
